Re: DNS in Deep Freeze

[Moderator's note. Susan, I may be way out of my depth here, as I know
VERY little about networks and protection of this sort, but how often does
the reboot happen? Once you had a pretty stable voice file for any given
student, you could maybe copy her/his voice files to the protected folder
as often as it seemed convenient and then replace them if they were lost
due to a "reboot." DNS would just recognize them as an "existing user" and
incorporate them. Bob]

Well, the purpose of deep freeze *is* to get rid of whatever drivel has
been downloaded, and that is a very good thing in our fairly public lab
where students browse and download left and right, especially for the
latest WWF or rap video, or new contest or...

We may have that version; The "Thaw" drive *does* do a good job of
getting around the problem when we've got files we do want to keep, like
the scanned texts that students have the text-to-speech software read.
THat's easy to save into a Thaw folder, though. I get the feeling that
saving voice files in someplace "a little different" is a mine field
situation... and it's not obvious how it would be done so taht the
program could still find 'em.

There's supposed to be a new version of Deep Freeze coming out that
gets
around this problem. Why don't you offer to Beta test it?
