In case you are still looking, the is a pen call 'Quicktionary Pen' that
allows you to scan small areas text in a document and reads it aloud.
This sounds like it should do the trick.

information available at the above site. Do a google search to find a
vendor. I beleive it is manufactured by Sony but not positive
