[Moderator's note: Hello, Marianna. I'm not sure I detect a question in
your posting, but I will offer encouragement and a bit of advice. Speech
recognition (SR) is a great tool for students in the middle grades who
struggle with writing, but it is critical that you start off correctly.
For starters, learn to use it yourself so you can apply a critical eye to
the pluses and minuses of the technology. Then begin with one eager,
technology-savvy student, and help them learn to use it. Have them begin
practicing with simple dictation, nothing cognitively taxing or complex,
and build up. Good luck. Bob Follansbee]
