RE: Data Bin Files in version 8

[Moderator's note. I'm posting this because I'm not sure (I'm such a
Luddite I'm still using 7). However, I can't imagine that Scansoft has
fiddled with that part of the program engineering, as it's been part of
the program from the very beginning. Bob]

Does anyone know if version 8 handles the training texts in the same way
as
previous versions?

Subject: Data Bin Files

[Moderator's note. Hi, Becky. Time was, back in the old days, that you
could
just go to Joel Gould's site--he was one of the original DD and DNS
engineers--for such tricks. I'm sure it's in our archives also. I will
forward you a copy of the old instructions from Joel's site. HOwever, the
training files were just text files with the '.bin' extension added in
naming. I assume that's still the case. Maybe others have a handier online
source for this info. Bob]

Hi,

I read the responses posted 2/3/05 from Bill Wade and Ed Rosenthal to the
question posed by Eileen C. Haddon regarding the data bin files (located
in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\ScanSoft\NaturallySpeaking8\Data\Training\Enx)

Wow! I didn't even know these were here.

Eileen said she'd "also like the ability to put in my own text for
training.." So would I! I didn't know this was possible. How do you do
this?

1. What software do you use to create/save the file?
2. I assume it must be saved with a .bin extension?
3. What protocol does the base name of the file need to follow? I see data
bin files numbered data0.bin through data19.bin and then data 33.bin
through
data40.bin 4. Where does Dragon get the name that will appear in the list
of
training texts?

Thanks
Becky
