Another great resource is Patins. They work with the schools.

[Moderator's note. Hear, hear! AT (along with SR) can be exasperating as
heck, but a huge amount of fun and tremendously satisfying. Great advise
and resources--thanks. Bob]

Alison- Working in AT is probably the most fun you can have in education
(not that I have a bias...) so welcome to our world! Each state has a
technical assistance program for AT- for Indiana, your resource is
Assistive Technology Through Action In Indiana
ATTAIN, Inc. (1990)
32 E. Washington Street, Suite 1400
Indianapolis, IN 46204
Executive Director: Gary Hand
Phone: 800.528.8246 (In State)
Phone: 317.486.8808
TTY: 800.743.3333 (National)
Fax: 317.486.8809
Email: attain@attaininc.org
Web: http://www.attaininc.org

Also, since this absolutely FABULOUS list serve is going away (Thanks,
Bob, for a wonderful support!) I suggest you check out the quality
indicators in assistive technology list serve (sign up at qiat.org -
follow the links to the list serve)The QIAT community is one of the
kindest, most giving groups, and the focus is AT in special education.
And- because I live in MN, I like to direct folks to Ablenet Inc which is
a company here that manufactures low tech AT devices (switches, mounting
systems, interface systems) that I have used extensively when I worked in
life skills areas with clients. There are other wonderful companies
(Adaptivation, TASH, and MANY MANY others). You need to figure out what it
is that needs to be done, and then match the technology to the neeed,
rather than matching the need to the technology.
Good luck in your search!
