[Moderator's note: My sense from the list is that v.8 is definitely worth
the expense. The decision between Professional and Preferred really
depends on your needs and usage. You COULD just use Preferred and add your
list of specialized vocabulary. Others may have ideas about where to go
for price... Bob]
I hope so, too, regarding Yahoo Groups. I'm kicking myself for having
purchased for $100 on eBay, and let sit on my shelf ever since, whatever
version of
Dragon was available five years ago. It was a medical version that I
would
have had to just pay another $150 to upgrade to Professional. I was just
too
fearful of not being able to figure it out...
I just recently once again decided to give Dragon a try. I'm guessing
that
my old version of Dragon is good for the garbage, and that I should seek
to
purchase Dragon 6.0, 7.0 (both of which can be upgraded for about $150)
or 8.0.
I'm going to try eBay again. If anyone has suggestions for the lowest
cost
possible, I'm all ears!
And again, I do hope this list continues via Yahoo.

[Moderator's note. Joseph, this seems like a promising direction. Things
were so different with lists back in '98, but there are good list venues
now. I'd be happy to facilitate some way to keep the list going. Others

down, maybe we'll decide as a virtual town hall how to help keep the
discussion going. More later... Bob]
I have not been a regular contributor to this list, but I have been
reading and taking in information. As a school AT coordinator I need to
keep on top of where voice recognition is so I know when it will work
for students of different needs. This list has been my only reliable
and consistent connection to that world. Maybe, if the group concurs,
we should think about recollecting as a Yahoo group once our connection
to Phoenix is gone. We may not have an expert moderator to post our
questions to, but that doesn't mean we couldn't help each other and get
input from those experts that are willing to join.
