We have used the Voice Tracker Array microphone (about $250) with good
success in the right kind of environment. It will not be useful in a
classroom, busy office setting or anything with consistent background
noise For example, I have a client using one in her home office and
really likes it even when her kids come in and out of the room. But
every time the phone rings or doorbell rings her dog barks and DNS tries
to interpret the dog. She has decided to put up with it rather than be
dependent on others or get rid of the dog. I say train the dog not to
bark but he is probably beyond that.
We have a GN Netcom voice array microphone in our clinic and it does ok
in a quiet environment but I wouldn't recommend it for any place with
any kind of traffic.
It is my understanding that Pro is rated as 508 certified because of the
macro capabilities that would allow an individual to go completely hands
free as well as make more complicated tasks easier with the proper
macro.
Hope that helps.

Subject: cordless microphones
Hi All,
We'd been thinking about using a cordless or possibly array microphone
with DNS preferred (have 7.0...upgrading soon to 8). Thus far, we have
been discouraged from attempting this.
Saw at Scansoft site that Professional supports both these mics. Can
anyone speak to recognition/accuracy level ? There's a huge leap in
price ($199 vs. $795) that we would want to be able to justify.
Also, why is Pro secton 508 certified, but not preferred?
Thanks...Becky
