Lorianne

Were you using DNS or DragonDictate. If DNS, what version were you using?

thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately this student has impaired fine
motor functioning. She has only the ability to point with the index finger
of her left hand. She cannot use her other fingers. As a result she cannot
interact with braille. That is why I am having a hard time figuring out a
solution for her Thanks Lorianne

[Moderator's note: Good suggestion, X. (But please slap a name--even a
first
name--on your reply so we can address you!) Thanks. Bob Follansbee]

What about a Braille keyboard and a talking word processor?

I have a new 17 year old student who is being educated in district. This
student, although slightly dysarthric, loves to talk, and dictates
tremendous amounts of "text" to her paraprofessional. We would
like this
student to be more independent, but she has a very low frustration
tolerance. The first time we explored Dragon, it did not recognize all of
her words immediately, which set her off on an hour long tantrum.
Towards avoiding such situations in the future, I am considering having her
read text into a digital  tape recorder, and making the corrections at
a
later time. Not until the voice file is accurate will I give her more
direct
access to listen to play back and edit her work. Any suggestions that
anyone
on this list can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lorianne
