We are about to embark on a major implementation with a leading IT company
after successful initial trials in a UK primary school (ages 10/11). This
will use KeyStone ScreenSpeaker and KeyStone Roamer (for networking).
The trials involved very mixed ability children including a girl with CP
and
several with significant learning difficulties. It also embraced five
children excluded from other schools because of behavioural problems. All
were enrolled simultaneously within one hour on DNS 5 using the special
enrolment facilities of KeyStone. When DNS 6 was released, the exercise was
repeated. Children reported significantly improved recognition when using
voice for a wide variety of tasks.
I am currently seeking agreement to release full details of the project and
I will soon be able to supply fact sheets regarding the technical
specifications of the systems used.
We believe that this project will provide some of the most important
information yet available on the use of voice recognition in the classroom.
The school involved is a mainstream school within the UK educational system
and has received no special benefits, either private or governmental. It
has, however, achieved astonishing results in a number of areas both
academically and technically.
I am establishing a new subject line for this project so that those
interested will be able to follow developments over the next year or so.
The
subject line is "The Broadclyst Project" and you will get a duplicate copy
of this e-mail under that line. Any private enquiries on the project
should
be addressed to me via the contact details given below.
