Uh huh. The confusion over Dragon NaturallySpeaking (DNS) and DragonDictate
continues.

You are clearly using DNS version 5, not Dictate.

There is no equivalent setting for background noise using DNS. However,
using a suitable noise-cancelling microphone and making sure you use the
"Check Audio" option whenever you experience problems should reduce your
problems. The DNS software generally precludes the need for having to
adjust
the microphone settings manually.

Frankly, if you are getting persistent background noise, there is probably
a
hardware problem. This could be an inappropriate sound card (check this
from
the list supplied by the manufacturers or your supplier), internal noise
generated by the computer (laptops in particular often suffer from this) or
a bad microphone (there are plenty of these).
On some computers, the internal sound card settings may become set
incorrectly and have to be adjusted manually. This is a tedious process on
some machines and should be investigated by an expert.

The Plantronics SR1 or PL1 microphones are good all-round units.

With kind regards
