I'm not sure what you mean by "no list serve messages with this subject
heading.."
Anyway, what I am referring to is standard sound systems that ship with
computer manufacturers. For example ESS, AC '97 and SoundMax. I believe
that these are two chip sound systems that are integrated "on the board."
Manufacturers claim that these are "Sound Blaster compatible" but our
experience has been that they provide inferior results when it comes to
speech recognition as opposed to using a PCI Sound Blaster card.
My question is, how can they claim to be "Sound Blaster compatible" if they
don't provide the same performance as a true Sound Blaster card? I hope
this makes sense.
