Beth,
I've closely observed exceptional learners for more than 23 years. I have
noticed that some learners (especially boys) develop fine motor skills
later
than other skills. It doesn't always mean that your son has dysgraphia (a
learning disability that impairs the ability to produce written language).
It is good for parents to work together with their children's school
personnel and other professionals until they are comfortable with the
education their child is receiving. You might want to read info about
parental rights in special education law such as IDEALAW.org
or WRIGHTSLAW.com
