    Hi Leslie,

I have also toyed with the idea of incorporating my sons poor articulaton
into a form of speech in VR. He just recently initiated the need for a
computer. . . so, we bought one of his own and are waiting for a set of Big

Keys to help him manipulate around the keyboard with more ease. I will try

Naturally Speaking Preferred with him. My plan is to work with him and
"type" /transcribe his speech into the language of the written word. I
figure it will drive me crazy... ha ha, take forever and will incorporate
picture symbols, gestures, etc. to get across what he wants a specific
    sound
    to mean.
At this point, I am not too sure about the consistency of his sounds, so
    this
is definitely in dream phase. If I am successful, I will share with the
    world. <Great Big Smile>
Shayne is 20 and cannot read, so, the word processing programs that I will
use and IntelliTalk and Writing with Symbols. With the later, the picture
symbols that he is familiar with, will allow him to "read" what he has
written. This will allow him to compose letters to family/friends, write
    shopping lists, etc.

I think voice recognition is something that will evolve into commonplace.
And, hopefully it will allow young people like our children to communicate
    a
    little better.

    sorry for rambling.
    Nettie Fischer
