You may be referring to a Portable Parrot which is used with the VoiceIt
3200 (NaturallyMobile) digital recorder. This add on a microphone plugs
into the microphone jack and significantly improves recognition accuracy
when played into the speech recognition software.
There's also a Parrot Box which allows you to use a single headset to talk
to both the computer and the telephone. This device is from VXI (although
I
prefer the PCTI from Andrea which does the same thing).
