In the Audio Setup Wizard there is an "Advanced" tab on the screen Titled
"Connecting Your Microphone". This section will allow you to turn on the
microphone boost that may solve your issue with your student. The other
option is to purchase a microphone booster box for the microphone. I think
that Andrea Electronics carry this device. Last time I purchased one it
was around $15.00.

Subject: Soft voice
Hi,
I recently had a query from a visiting teacher who sees a student with a
significant physical disability. She has great literacy skills, is very
mature and very motivated to use SR. She has DNS on a laptop. The
teacher reports that they can't get past the audio set up stage with the
microphone not responding to the student's voice (the environment is
quiet and the laptop has above optimum recommended memory/speed capacity
for DNS. The teacher has tried the mic and it's fine for her stronger
voice.
Would you suggest a different type of microphone? If the teacher was to
use her voice for the initial set up is it likely that the student
would be able to perform the training of the phrases required by DNS?
Thanks for your help,
Ania Ciechanowski
