Question 2:
We do have students who successfuly use both discrete and continuous speech
products or the combination of both.
Questions 3:
Currently, we will try to use continuous products as far as we can with
students. Those needing discrete products may be individuals needing close
to 100% hands-free control of the computer, persons with speech impairment
or learning difficutlies.
Question 4:
I am not sure how this question is different from question one. The only
thing I will add is cognitive ability. Users who have trouble understanding
the ideas of the document file and the voice file are being created/modified
at the same time, those who can not remember the commands, understand when
to use which command will not be successful with SR. The demands in visual
scanning, visual attention and visual tracking in the SR products are
difficult for individuals with low vision or visual deficits from a
neurological impairment.
