In DragonDictate there are "Environmental Sounds". These are distinguished by
having [( )] brackets around them. You can find them in the Vocabulary
Manager, in the System folder. These sounds, when picked up by Dragon are
ignored. You can training them from the Vocabulary Manager. There is one
called [(chuckle)] which you can get your son to train, which should solve your
problem.

Several people have mentioned training DD to recognize voice sounds (not
words but coughs, throat noises, etc). Is it possible to give an explanation on
how to do this by email? I have looked through the DD manual and cannot find
the information, although I must admit I am new at SR. My son tends to make the
same half-laugh, half-rasp every time he reads an error and thinks it's funny.
This only leads to more errors and we don't make much progress like this. I
have worked with him to turn off the mike before reading, but if we can train DD
to ignore certain sounds, that would be ideal.
