My son (age 10) does the same exact thing. If he has to WRITE or TYPE
anything it is very short and he will even ask for "shorter word" synonyms.
If I type to his dictation or he records on audio cassette, WOW! big
change, same like you said: better vocabulary, more creativity, etc.
