Hindie,
I am not sure yet. I use CoWriter, WriteOutloud and lots of similar stuff
widely in our district, and have found many children, especially 4-7th
graders assisted by them. The student referred for VR has a great sight
word vocabulary foundation, but no phonic skills (reportedly). The SpEd
Coordinator thinks the only thing he will be able to do is dictate. I have
my own reservations, but will attempt just to get him to be able to dictate
a few words and see how it goes. I'll probably try lots of other stuff too,
like the talking word processor, early reading/writing game stuff, etc. If
it works for him he probably would use it on his classroom computer (as long
as noise in the background does not force him into a separate room).
Why can't your students use CoWriter and WRite Outloud if you have them?
Catherine
