After reading the postings requesting additional after school resources
and/or curriculum ideas I thought I'd pass along information on our
organization. Youth Venture specializes in helping youth start their own
projects that give back to the community. We provide funding and support.
I've recommended it specifically to a few individuals, but I wanted to
take the opportunity during the fall/back to school season to recommend it
to the listserv en masse.
Feel free to pass the paragraph below on to anyone you think would be
interested. If you have any questions or would like further information
please email or call me at jaspengren@youthventure.org and 703.527.4126.
You can also visit our website at www.youthventure.org or email
info@youthventure.org. Thanks!
<p>Find out how to get $1,000 to change your community -- and shape your
world! Want to help your community or change the world? Need some funds
and support to help get things going? Youth Venture can help!
Youth Venture is a national nonprofit organization that helps teams of
young people (ages 12-20) by providing them the tools necessary to start
their own clubs, organizations, or businesses that give back to their
communities.
Youth Venture will give your group a seed grant of up to $1,000 to start
your venture. Youth Venture will also give you access to scholarships,
awards, special conference invitations, media opportunities and a national
network of active young people once you successfully complete the
application, present your plan, and meet certain Youth Venture
requirements.
Here's an opportunity to do something about an issue that you care about.
Venture teams have done everything from using theatre to provide a
positive activity for urban youth to running park clean-ups.
There are Venture teams that provide relief to AIDS orphans and run
digital media projects. One even educates others about endangered
turtles. Our Venturers have been featured in Forbes, Teen People and Urban
Teen Scene. What's your passion? You DREAM IT and we'll help you DO IT.
If you'd like to find out more about our Venturers or how to become a
Venturer go to www.youthventure.org. You can also write to
info@youthventure.org for more information. DO IT!
