I am advising a nascent non profit that helps kids (k-12) improve their
self presentation skills - by learning to communicate their ideas better.
Using the Toastmasters model, it helps build self esteem, and provide
useful skills to more capably communicate both in school and later in the
workplace.

They are interested in providing use of one generation older laptops (ie
pentium 2, 300 -366 mhz, windows 98se, 128-192 ram) to students to help
prepare their presentations visually, then record them on the laptop with a
mike; to help practice their presentations.

They are interested in using laptops for convenience in moving from
location to location where classes are held in different after school
programs, and also to enable students to utilize laptops for research on
the Net.

Appreciate any suggestions, advice regarding minimum system requirements,
and suggested approaches to using laptops for the recording, repeat
recording of audio presentations.

It is expected that the presentations will be 2-3 minutes each, expected to
be rehearsed 2-3 times for each assignment.

First batch of students will be 3rd and 4th graders. Later expect older
kids using laptops also.
