PA#311 4-H Agricultural Science Educator
LOCATION: Tompkins County, Ithaca, NY

General Responsibilities:
Team Coordinator for multi-faceted 4-H Youth Development program that
reaches about 8000 youth, per year, through an expansive volunteer system
and a staff of about 20 professionals and Para-professionals. Serve as a
member of the Cooperative Extension Program Management team, composed of 8
Extension Educators working across disciplines to ensure a well-managed
overall issue-based effort.

Manage and directly supervise 3 ­ 5 program staff, and 3 ­5 work-study
students, as well as lead, coordinate, and manage approximately 200
volunteer personnel including 4-H club leaders, short-term volunteers,
teen leaders, middle management volunteers, and program development
committees.

Diverse populations of youth are reached through 4-H Club efforts, as well
as through Urban and Rural outreach in after-school settings; during
evening, weekend and school's out activities; as well as through summer
camp programs. While program emphasis and outreach is directed towards
youth, Team Coordinator is primarily responsible for 'train the trainer'
efforts rather then direct work with youth. Major subject matter area for
Team Coordinator is Science Education, specifically Agricultural,
Mechanical, Animal / Livestock, Plant and Environmental Sciences.Degree
And Experience Required:
· Master's Degree appropriate to the responsibilities of the
position and two years relevant experience. Successful work experience in
Cooperative Extension with volunteer management and supervisory experience
is preferred. Retail management and/or building & grounds maintenance
supervision / experience desirable. Proven fundraising / grant writing
experience.
