For those out there who might be considering how to become a Supplemental
Education Service Provider....it is very important that you talk with your
State Education Agency to find out what is required. For example, the
California Department of Education (CDE) has posted a list of approved
providers on their web site and is administering a survey to districts to
find out how satisfied they are with these providers. The results of the
survey will be shared with the State Board of Education.

My employer was contracted to build and administer the survey on behalf of
the CDE. In our conversations with districts and a few providers, it came
to our attention that some providers were not aware of state curriculum
standards or federal laws governing the civil rights of special needs
students.

The NCLB Compliance Insider will be publishing an issue on this topic. You
may want to get a copy so you can do your homework.

Good luck,
