I've been on this list for a few weeks, and I've really enjoyed hearing
about the great (and important) work being done by everyone here.

I wanted to introduce myself briefly. I have been working with youth and
technology for about six years. I was on the management team at
FreeZone.com, which was a safe online community for more than 800,000 kids
from around the world.

Currently I'm CEO of a company that provides software and consulting to
facilitate safe online interaction for kids. This is everything from
monitored chat to kid-written magazines to screened, kid-friendly message
boards. Our consulting services generally focus on online safety and
privacy issues.

Our safe online community for kids, Kidfu ("The Way of the Kid), is
currently being transitioned into a not-for-profit. The focus is
providing online mentorship for youth in subjects ranging from homework
help to foreign language learning to creative writing workshops (and many
other subjects). We are also involved in online safety education and
advocacy. One of our programs is a theatre performance (working with
professional actors) which teaches kids about "net smarts."

We're partnering with a couple of summer camps to provide a way for the
kids to meet safely online before camp and stay in touch safely online
after camp.

We're also working with a hospital in Harlem to provide children's
hospitals nation-wide (and beyond) with a place for kids to interact, play
and learn in a safe environment online.

We're in the early stages of a number of other similar projects, ranging
from children's theatre to middle schools.

I will also be taking some time out of my normal work this summer to be
the Camp Director for a residential computercamp.

I have learned a lot from this list already, and I look forward to
learning a lot more.

Chris
