I'm hoping to interest you in a project that enables poor people in
developing countries to have just a little electricity.
See attachment.
While many people are very enthusiastic about the project - we have well
over a thousand contacts - getting
it to be used has proved far from easy.
This is partly because the people we can most help are the most difficult
ones to contact and few Western NGOs
are involved with this type of work.
So far we have mostly sold to the not-so-poor in developing countries but
it has tremendous potential
for creating employment and we are constantly looking for NGOs working in
this field. There are very few!
There are lots concerned with youth and/or employment but few offering
practical solutions.
We operate in association with a UK NGO offering a wonderful self-assembly
solar cooker which also receives little support.
If anybody is aware a NGO do let us know and, in particular, the
person who works for the organisation.
We do not need funding at this end as the DIY Solar technique is very
cheap and we are prepared to help.
But while it can be eventually affordable to quite poor people, local NGOs
often need funding if they are to train locals in the assembly and use of
this technique.
Other help comes from;
a) working through individuals who have come from a developing country and
would like
to help their brethren back home and
b) individuals who have gone from Europe to help in various ways.
We have volunteers who have gone out to Kenya to introduce this
technique.
Any suggestions welcome!
