The Youth Employment Summit is addressing one of the most fundamental
issues of the next several decades. While those of us in industrialized
nations are worrying about pension reform and how too few young people
will support our ageing populations, often we lose sight of the fact that
the developing world is dealing with a very different demographic issue.
YES is tackling this tremendous challenge of harnessing the capacity of
millions of young people and chanelling their energy into improving
their own situation. I applaud their efforts with the understanding
that success has benefits for the entire globe.
