Upcoming Opportunity for Social Entrepreneurs ? all welcome to apply

A new initiative in Toronto, Canada is offering a two-month training
program for budding social entrepreneurs in the northern summer of 2004.
The World Youth Center is currently building the curriculum for the 2004
summer program. Young people aged 16-24 with exciting sustainable
development ideas for your community are encouraged to apply. Apply online
at the World Youth Centre website,

http://www.worldyouthcentre.com/

The World Youth Centre (WYC) will be a place by youth for youth. Located in
Toronto, it will be place where young people from around the world come to
share, learn, teach, experiment and create. It will tackle problems that
matter most to youth. It will evolve in stages, beginning with a pilot
project slated for the summer of 2004.

The inaugural WYC Pilot Project is an effort to gather thirty exceptional
young social entrepreneurs from around the world for two months. They will
come with a plan for positive change in their community that they intend to
act on. Theory and analysis will be combined with hands-on experience
through the exchange of ideas and experiences. Progress and sustainability
of projects will be closely monitored for a minimum of three years through
a mentorship program.

The project is in its preliminary/start-up phase and is structured as a
standard Not-For-Profit organization with a Board of Directors for overall
governance; a Steering Committee which will evolve into three working
committees (Programming, Enrolment/Mentorship, Development/Strategic
Partnerships); and a management team of permanent staff and consultants all
working together to move the project forward.
