Africa-Canada Youth Symposium for Leadership in Development
The Africa-Canada Youth Symposium for Leadership in Development will be
held in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada from July 22-27, 2003. The
Symposium will be hosted by the Coady International Institute at St.
Francis Xavier University.
The Symposium is a gathering of 70 African and Canadian youth leaders
committed to finding effective youth-friendly strategies to tackle the
issues youth are facing throughout the world - issues such as HIV/AIDS,
the environment, peacebuilding, sustainable livelihoods and economic
development.
The YES Campaign will facilitate several workshops and sessions on
skills development, focusing on youth participation in the economic
development of their communities and countries. The YES Campaign
believes that through providing opportunities and open spaces for larger
numbers of people to realize their inherent leadership capacities.
Realizing innate capabilities will lead to enhanced prospects for
sustainable, decent work in a person's community.
The Symposium is open to African and Canadian youth between the ages of
20 and 30 with an interest in youth issues. To apply, please go to

The YES Campaign is collaborating with the organizers of the
Africa-Canada Youth Symposium for Leadership in Development. However,
the YES Campaign is not the primary organizer of the event and will not
be receiving any applications for participation or funding sponsorships.
