In a sign of the growing attention paid to the crisis of youth employment,
the UN-Habitat agency added youth employment to its priority agenda at the

The newly adopted agenda's Youth Resolution requires Habitat "to ensure the
active participation of UN-HABITAT in the Secretary General's initiative on
youth employment, in the framework of the United Nations Millennium
Declaration goal of improving the lives of at least 100 million slum
dwellers by 2020."
Priority areas for increased youth participation in decision-making within
the Habitat Agenda include Urban Governance and Crime Prevention
strategies.
