Dear Friends,

My heart dances with delight to share with you that YES Pakistan Network
has become a legal entity. The Certificate of Registration has been issued
to YES Network Pakistan. Now it is the only Network in the country which is
'for' the young people and 'by' the young people. I congratulate all of you
on this brilliant success and do hope that we will continue to work
together to accomplish the goals of the YES Campaign. With legal status the
YES Pakistan Network will be in a better position to interact with local,
provincial, national and international organizations.

The second piece of good news is that the YES Pakistan Advisory Board has
approved YES Pakistan's Institutional Structure. According to the new
institutional structure the decision making powers rest with young people
aged between 15 to 29, while the role of the YES Pakistan Advisory Board
will be to conduct research, monitoring, supervision and to liaise with
central government and international agencies. It also includes advocacy
and training at national and international level and approval of projects
and the budget of YES Network Pakistan.

The revised YES Institutional Structure along with YES Membership
application form is available at the YES Pakistan website for your
information. The translation of these materials along with a YES Action
Planning Kit in local languages is in process and will also be provided on
the YES Network Pakistan website. It has also been decided that YES
Pakistan will establish a separate group of private sector industrialists
to support and promote the YES Network. The YES Pakistan Advisory Board
will determine the number and type of technical committees required.

YES Pakistan is also in process of conducting the first ever research on
youth employment status in Pakistan with the collaboration of Punjab
University's Social Work Department. The study will be carried out as a
pilot initiative in one location of Lahore with 100 households. The first
draft of the interview schedule has been developed and is enclosed herewith
for your review and comments. In the light of the field experiences and
knowledge gained through this pilot effort a nation wide research will be
designed and it will be included in the project which is being developed
for funding in order to scale up YES Pakistan's successful initiatives like
the Skills Development Center in Green Town, Lahore.

Keep your candle burning!

Your friend,

Ali Raza Khan
